Water UK City Conference 2015

Water UK held its annual City Conference on 4 March this year with over 150 delegates attending from a broad range of water companies, regulators, investors and other key stakeholders.

The room was filled with senior leaders from the industry who contributed to rich debate. The large attendance and the vibrant discussion suggested that the conference could not have been held at a more opportune time. With changes on the horizon for the industry, plus having just passed through a challenging price review period the conference proved a positive and progressive focus on innovation, customers and resilience. Throughout the day it was clear that the success of the sector has been underpinned by partnerships, and in particular those with investors.

Attendees left the conference ready to take debate forward.

The comprehensive conference was chaired by Steve Mogford, Chief Executive at United Utilities and included contributions from Sarah Mukherjee, Water UK Director of Environment; Defra Minister Dan Rogerson; Ofwat Chairman Jonson Cox; Sir John Armitt, Author of the Armitt Report; Heidi Mottram, Chief Executive of Northumbrian Water; and the Chief Executive from Anglian Water, Peter Simpson. Alongside these keynote presentations there was a forward looking panel tackling issues surrounding the alignment of interest between customers, management and investors. The conference also included a second panel which considered the financing of the sector.
